Stinging Nettle Slug Caterpillar (Cup Moth, Limacodidae) “Ellipsis” by itchydogimages

Via Flickr:

One of the first spottings of the 2017 Limacodid season is a new variety.
In the tradition of allocating informal names to each type in the absence of formal IDs and/or having a ready-to-mind name to refer to them, I have named this species “Ellipsis”, for the row of white dots along the backline. (Ellipsis is the name given to the series of dots (typically three, such as “…”) used in punctuation – or at least, now you know.)

Pu’er, Yunnan, China
